Illinois Divers Finish First Day of Miami Invitational

Miami, Ohio - As some of the swimmers headed west for Washington this weekend, the Illini divers traveled east for the Miami Invitational. The three day invitational kicked off today as two Illinois divers competed in the 1-Meter dive which was the only event on the first day. In the 1-Meter event, Lisa Fish finished fifth in the prelim with a score of 226 and Jackie Bain placed sixth with a score of 212. In the finals, where scoring became much tighter both swimmers held their position or placed better than in prelims. Lisa Fish moved up to fourth place in the final with a score of 230 points. Meanwhile, Jackie Bain held her ground at the sixth position with a score of 197 in the final.
Competition will continue through Saturday and Sunday with prelims in the afternoon session followed by the finals in the evening session.
